We are excited to announce that Wasatch Backcountry Alliance has joined 1% for the Planet as an environmental partner! This partnership is intended to advance our impact as well as involve more businesses in supporting our mission.

1% for the Planet connects environmental partners (WBA) with businesses or individuals who pledge to give 1% of their sales to environmental nonprofits each year. This program enables WBA to connect with businesses that support human-powered winter recreation in the Central Wasatch Mountains. Threats to chip away at our cherished backcountry zones will never stop, which is why we need community support to help us achieve a lasting impact.

About 1% for the Planet

1% for the Planet is an accountability partner for businesses that are ready to reject business as usual and give back to environmental partners making a difference around the globe. Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, their members have given hundreds of millions of dollars to environmental partners to date.

“The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems,” writes Yvon Chouinard, co-founder of 1% for the Planet.
