Mill Creek Canyon Winter Pilot Shuttle!

Wasatch Backcountry Alliance is bringing a free winter shuttle to Mill Creek Canyon for a limited Saturday-only pilot program running February 21- March 21, 2026.
Why Mill Creek? Millcreek Canyon is often overlooked when it comes to transit planning in the Central Wasatch. That’s why we’re grateful that a shuttle has long been a priority for the Central Wasatch Commission. The Commission recently updated the Mill Creek Shuttle Feasibility Study and submitted a Request for Appropriations to the state to fund a three-year pilot program for a Millcreek Canyon Shuttle. We’re waiting to hear if the Transportation Appropriations Committee will approved the request – and we hope they do. While we’re very supportive of this progress, we do wish the pilot program included winter service — which it currently does not.
Because of that, and due to limited parking near the Winter Gate this season as a result of FLAP grant construction, WBA will be moving our Backcountry Shuttle to Millcreek Canyon this winter thanks to grant funding from the Central Wasatch Commission and a permit from the Forest Service.
We are piloting a winter shuttle to collect data on demand, track activity type, and dog use. Please come ride with us! Showing up and using the shuttle is how we prove there’s real demand for “transit to trails” in MCC.
Schedule (in minutes from top of hour)
- Depart Virginia Way +5:00
- Thayne drop off/pick up (going up canyon): +15:00-20:00
- Depart Thayne +20:00
- Aqualot drop off: +25:00-30:00
- Depart Aqualot +30:00
- Return to Virginia Way +50:00

How to ride
- The shuttle is free!
- Please bring your Mill Creek Recreation Pass if you have one.
- Advance sign-up is encouraged to guarantee a seat
