Annual Reports

After the 2023–2024 season, WBA published our first-ever Season Report—an exciting milestone that reflects just how much more effective and organized our work has become since bringing on a part-time director. For our first decade, WBA operated entirely through the dedication of our volunteer board of directors, many of whom have been with us since the beginning. As the scope and complexity of our advocacy expanded, it became increasingly clear that we needed additional capacity to keep pace with the fast-moving developments that shape backcountry access in the Central Wasatch.

Hiring a part-time director has been transformative. It has allowed us to proactively track and engage in the many meetings, proposals, and policy processes that affect human-powered recreation. With consistent staff support, we’re now able to coordinate our efforts more strategically, respond more quickly, and represent the backcountry community more effectively.

This added capacity also made it possible to launch a new level of transparency and communication through our annual Season Reports. These reports highlight the initiatives we’re leading, the projects we’re supporting, our growing community presence, and the priorities ahead as we prepare for future seasons.
